Have Food Allergies Left You More Afraid of the "Treats" at Halloween Than the "Tricks?"
Do you cringe each year when fall is in the air because you know Halloween is just around the corner? For parents of food allergic children, this holiday can be the hardest. It's the only time of year kids are expected to go door to door and ask complete strangers for allergen-filled candy.
My son, Tyler, suffers from life-threatening peanut and tree nut allergies and I know what it's like to wish you could blink your eyes and Halloween would just disappear. You probably feel the same way.
For several years, Halloween left me with knots in my stomach because I wasn't sure how to handle it. Should Tyler "Trick or Treat" or should he stay home? How would I handle the class party? How could I keep him from feeling isolated during the holiday? There were so many questions but I had few answers.
Thankfully we've had a few Halloweens now and I've come up with a plan that works well for us. It changes each year, just like my food allergic son changes each year. Another great change is that I feel OK with Halloween each year.
Little by little, I've learned to enjoy it again as Tyler enjoys it, too. We just have several safeguards in place to keep him protected.
Are you like I used to be? At a loss and wish you had some sort of plan to follow to keep your child safe? If you've researched online, you've probably discovered there's not a tremendous amount of information on the subject either.
That's why I wrote Managing Food Allergies and Halloween, to give you the guide to help navigate through Halloween and know what your safe options are.
The ebook is packed with useful information to keep your child safe, like
*Safety tips if you do go trick or treating (page 7)
*What to do with the candy if you don't want them to eat it (page 9)
*Halloween alternatives to do instead of "Trick or Treating" (page 11)
*How to handle the class Halloween party (page 13)
*How to create new traditions (page 16)
*Recipe links for common Halloween food that are allergen friendly (page 20)
*And much more!
There's no magic pill to take to make you feel 100% OK with Halloween. I get that. But this book has all of your options in one spot (maybe ones you've never thought of before!) and helps you move from "I'm scared to death of Halloween" to "Maybe Halloween isn't so bad after all."
The key in being prepared and this ebook helps you with that. Kids really can celebrate Halloween in a safe, non-isolating way.
For a few dollars you can take the worry out of the scariest day of the year and breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that you have a manual for navigating through this Halloween and all future Halloweens. Can you even put a price on that?

This ebook has many very helpful tips for making trick-or-treating with a food allergic child less stressful. In addition to tips for trick-or-treating, the author provides several fun, age appropriate alternatives to trick-or-treating. I found this book helpful, and I think it would be even more helpful for a newly diagnosed allergy.Product details
